Chicago Skyline and Planetarium Wedding

Chicago skyline is one of the most exquisite skyline there is and our couple’s idea to emphasize this scenic view throughout their equally exquisite wedding is just fitting. The edginess and structure of the details in this wedding, may it be the big buildings or the small table pieces, added color and personality to this already elegant event. Plus the black and red matches Chicago’s sophisticated style as well. Congratulations to our lovely couple!

What would you say, the overall story for this album?

Mal and Tom both wanted a venue that was truly Chicago and that all of their out of town guests would remember. The Planetarium provides one of the most amazing views of the Chicago skyline and with cocktail hour outside at sunset I’d say they definitely wowed them!

What inspired the wedding day outfits?

They wanted a simple, classic look and both attended colleges that had red as their primary color so it was the obvious choice.

What was your favorite part of the day?

I loved the entire day as I actually knew Mal from college so it was special to me to be a part of her wedding day, but I’d say their first look was one of my favorites. She had her dad walk her to Tom just as he would do down the aisle and it was a tear jerker!

Was there any Do it Yourself (DIY) projects? If so, can you describe them in detail?

They did the save the dates, escort cards, favors, table number, programs, menus and invitations themselves.

What were the highlights from the ceremony & reception?

They got married in a gorgeous and historic church in Chicago and the sunset cocktail hour was amazing as well. I think the reception highlight was that fireworks are set off at Navy Pier every Saturday and there is a pretty clear view from the Planetarium so all the guests gathered outside to watch.

Was there a theme for the ceremony and reception?

They are both big music lovers so they wanted to integrate that theme into the wedding. They programs and menus etc all had hints of music notes or references.

What part of the ceremonies do you think was the most memorable for the bride and groom? Guests?

I can’t really speak for her, but she is very close to her dad and he’s a big talker so his speech was a very emotional one. There also happened to be a Phish concert next door at Northerly Island which made for some amazing people watching as guests arrived and left and concert go-goers were all around. She was worried it was going to be a disaster, but honestly I think it was memorable just because of the contrast of people!
