The Album Story
The overall story and goal for our Florida wedding was to have a happy and romantic celebration. It was so important to us to have our closest family and friends’ support, and we really aimed to make the entire day a sweet moment of joy as we enter into this next chapter of our lives.
The Theme
I wanted the theme to be beach-inspired but romantic, and a little more refined. The colors were inspired by the beautiful Florida sunset, so everything was soft and romantic. With a setting as beautiful as the Beach Club, I just wanted to compliment the surroundings, and not try to compete with them.
Wedding Outfit Inspiration
For the bridesmaid dresses, I was inspired by the colors of the beautiful Florida sunsets. One of our favorite parts of the day at the beach is watching the sun set, we plan nearly everything around it. So I incorporated those colors into the dresses and flowers. For the groomsmen, I wanted a formal look but not too stuffy. To me, the gray tux was the perfect mix of formality and beach attire.
The Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Projects
The main DIY project we did was use sand dollars for the table assignments. We bought two glass trays, filled them with sand and then stuck the sand dollars up right into the sand by table number. For the sand dollars, we purchased 3″ sand dollars online. Then we used a thin point sharpie to write the guests names and numbers on them. You have to be very gentle because they break easily.
Highlights From the Ceremony and the Reception
The Highlights of the ceremony for me was that it was a beautiful, breezy beach day. I loved everything about the ceremony. We wanted it to be short and sweet, but also intimate. Our officiant Steve, played the conch shell to signify us entering into the new waters of our life. It was an amazing moment! One of our best friends read the “Blessing of the Hands,” which was so special to both of us. I also really loved the sea shell ceremony we did at the end. All of our guests were given a sea shell (that Austin and I had collected from previous trips to Florida), and we made a wish or said a little prayer and tossed them into the Gulf. I am a believer in the power of positive thinking, so it was so neat to see the seashells go into the water and be surrounded by that much love.
It all went perfectly well. I really loved the toasts, that’s always my favorite part of weddings. It was also so fun to just be able to relax and enjoy the party we had been planning for so long! I feel like everyone there was having an amazing time, and it was so fun to look around and see all the smiling faces of our guests.
Favorite Part of the Day
I don’t know that I can pick just one moment. The first look was a really amazing moment for us. I was nervous, more nervous than I thought I would be, and once I saw Austin all of my nerves were immediately calmed. Another really special moment was when we were pronounced Husband and Wife, and the acoustic guitar started playing Here Comes the Sun. It was one of the most surreal, fairytale moments of my life. It was such a full circle moment to actually be there married and surrounded by our family and friends.
A Memorable Moment
I think the most memorable part of the ceremony was walking down the aisle, and being pronounced husband and wife. Those were two moments where the joy and expectation for this special day really sunk in!
